  • That will depend on your body mass, the external temperature you are exposed to, your age and physical condition. For a healthy adult and under normal circumstances, it is unlikely that drinking ice water will lower your body temperature for any length of time, as your body will try to conpensate by producing more heat. Hypothermia more likely occurs in the sick, the elderly and in the very young as their ability to regulate body temperature is compromised. The situation that you describe actually occurred quite often to people who got lost or were stranded in extremely cold environments. Drinking ice cold water cound then become deadly.
