Can canvas items be washed in a normal washing machine?

Sure, as long as the washing instructions don't say it's a bad idea. I've washed canvas, plenty of times. The only problem is that canvas is inflexible or stiff in comparison to regular fabric, so you might have to wash and especially rinse it twice to get all the soap out.

If you haven't done it yet...try gentle or put it into a pillow case that you can tie or sew shut (use big basting stitches to sew it shut) and only use about a tablespoon of WOOLIGHT.
