  • Pour cheap (not diet) cola down it, swish about a bit with a toilet brush and leave overnight before flushing. There are acidic chemicals in the coke that dissolve all the nasty stuff - comes up lovely and shiny.

  • I pour some Lysol in the bowl and scrub with a rag.
  • 1) "The best way to clean a toilet is to first shut off the water. Turn the valve off and flush the toilet. With the water level down, my favorite product is Lime A-Way. Spray the product up under the rim, read the directions, and let it sit for the right period of time. Once you spray the inside of the toilet, you can then brush around the rim. Now turn the water back on and you are ready to rinse." (I learned it by reading the instructions on the back of a bottle of Safety Foam toilet bowl cleaner.) Before you squirt (and swish), lower the water level in the toilet by plunging it with the toilet brush. By doing this, you allow the cleaner to better contact stains below the waterline, and keep it from becoming diluted by the excess water." Products used to clean a toilet include a liquid spray cleaner (usually used for porcelain and counter tops), an abrasive cleanser for scrubbing (usually used for bathtubs or floors), a toilet scrub brush, a roll of paper towels, and a medium level toothbrush for hard-to-reach places. For easy accessibility, keep all your cleaning supplies stored in a large bucket or carrying tray that can be transported from closet to toilet or to other parts of the house if you have more than one bathroom. If a toilet is cleaned well and family members, especially children, are instructed about how to properly use the toilet, it will only need to be cleaned once each week. Cleaning a toilet is a fairly simple procedure, but it must be cleaned thoroughly to remove all bacteria and avoid mineral deposit build up and odors. Raise the lid and the seat of the toilet and begin by pouring some of your abrasive cleanser into the toilet bowl. Using the toilet scrub brush, swish the cleanser around in the water until it is thoroughly mixed. Leave the lid and seat up but allow the cleanser sit while you work on other parts of the toilet. Next use your liquid spray cleaner to thoroughly spray the toilet inside and out. Start at the bottom and spray around the base; then spray around the outside of the bowl, the edge of the bowl, and the underside of the seat. Then lower the seat and spray it as well. Next spray the underside of the lid and then lower the lid and spray the top. Lastly, spray around the hinges, the sides of the tank, around the flush handle, and the top of the tank. At this point, the entire toilet should be fairly wet and dripping. Next, take a couple of paper towels and begin wiping your way down the toilet. First wipe the top of the lid, then the flush handle, down the sides, and around the lid. When wiping the hinges, use the toothbrush to get around the hinges that are hard to reach; then wipe up any debris with the paper towels. Once the lid is wiped clean, open the lid and wipe the underside; then wipe the top of the seat, and raise the seat so you can wipe all around the sides and underneath, paying special attention to the seat stoppers. Wipe the insides of the hinges and then all around the rim of the bowl. Lastly, wipe down the sides of the bowl and all around the base. Again, use the toothbrush on the bolts at the base, if necessary. Once the outside of the toilet has been cleaned, go back to the bowl and scrub the inside with your scrub brush. The abrasive cleanser will have had time to work away at anything inside the bowl and you can simply scrub it away. Flush once, rinse out your supplies in the sink, and then put everything away until next week." Source: http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-the-best-way-to-clean-a-toilet.htm
  • Lysol toilet bowl cleaner will do the trick. Pour a bucket of water down the toilet to rid of most of the water in the bowl. Coat the bowl with Lysol toilet bowl clean. Let is soak 15-20 minutes, scrub with brush then flush. Be sure not to get the cleaner on anything else as it will eat a hole in it. Good Luck! =)
  • Clean it everyday..........no problems if you do aNd just think how sanitary it is
  • Get your partner to do it. But Lysol toilet bowl cleaner and a brush work pretty well, too.
  • The easiest way is to hire someone else to do it. However, that might nat always be affordable. Get a toilet brush and some toilet cleaner. Spray the bowl, let it sit and then brush away.
  • umm, i used toilet bowl cleaner and then scrub it with the brush and then make sure to clean the outside of the toilet and seat with...um, whatever cleaner you choose to use, "i use Fantistic"
  • Pay someone to do it... That's the easiest, since the only effort on you is to reach into your wallet. That's also the most effective, because you will be able to hold someone else accountable since they're paid for the job.
  • I've been told this works well....;-D... Dear Cat Owners, Here is how to clean your toilet and give your cat a bath at the same time! 1. Put both lids of the toilet up and add 1/8 cup of pet shampoo to the water in the bowl. 2. Pick up the cat and soothe him while you carry him towards the bathroom. 3. In one smooth movement, put the cat in the toilet and close both lids. You may need to stand on the lid. 4. The cat will self-agitate and make ample suds. Never mind the noises that come from the toilet, the cat is actually enjoying this. 5. Flush the toilet three or four times. This provides a "power-wash and rinse". 6. Have someone open the front door of your home. Be sure that there are no people between the bathroom and the front door. 7. Stand behind the toilet as far as you can, and quickly lift both lids. 8. The cat will rocket out of the toilet, streak through the bathroom, and run outside where he will dry himself off. 9. Both the commode and the cat will be sparkling clean. Sincerely, The Dog
  • 409 for the whole thing, and then Pine Sol for the inside of the toilet. You will have to wipe the toilet clean, I use paper towels, and then on the inside part, use a toilet brush.
  • Have your kid do it for you. My toilet sparkles every saturday.
  • if you drop some of those denture cleaning tablets in the toilet and let dissolve it will be like new
  • Twice a year I buy a gallon of vinegar for each toilet. I turn the water valve (behind the toilet)off, and flush so the bowl empties of water. Then I pour the entire gallon of vinegar into the bowl and let it sit overnight. Swoosh with the toilet brush and all the buildup and stains are gone. Otherwise, weekly or whenever it needs it, I put a small amount of cleaner in and scrub with the toilet brush.
  • Hire someone. :D
