I'm my own financial planner and I try to help friends and family if/when I can. You may want to ask your friends, family, coworkers, etc. for professional recommendations in your local area. There are plenty of financial books out there on specific topics as well as broad overviews. Suze Orman can be a good starting place, but I'm not the biggest fan of her style.
