  • Interesting point.
  • Because it's not good enough to be even considered a theory.
  • because evolution has some scientific proof
  • The point to clear up here is the definition of a Scientific Theory. "Theory" in science used differently to our common, everyday use of "theory". A scientific theory is something that explains a collection of facts and can be used to make predictions. It is much stronger than "just a theory" and an hypothesis must be backed by a lot of evidence before it can be considered a Theory. The Theory of Evolution is the explanation of the development of the diversity of life that currently best fits available evidence.
  • Theory is theory whatever community that it comes from. The theory attempts to explain the way something works. Therefore there can be no absolutes as far as theory is concerned. There must always be room for further understanding until the theory becomes absolute. The origins of the world according to man's understanding are not absolute they are still theories that are open to interpretation and further development as it the theory of creation! That having been said the bible declares from God's point of view which is absolute if you believe in him because He instigated it all. The argument is over faith, whether you believe it or not!
  • Because creationists take pride in their theory's absolutism. Since they view God, and therefore his words (like the bible) as absolute truths, describing creationism as "just a theory" takes away for its absolutism. Little do they know that our world is run on probability, so nothing is "absolute". If they were smart, they'd rephrase their arguments from "Creationism is the answer" to "it is highly probable that creationism is the answer."
  • God is viewed by many people as at best a theory, if not a fantasy. Creationism is viewed by these people as a ridiculous idea, not even given the status of theory. However, the beliefs of other people are none of my business and, I would suggest, none of yours. If somebody believes in God and has a literal view of creation based on the Bible it is based on faith and is a matter entirely for themselves. I cannot see why so many people put so much effort into asking questions about this and allied subjects, in which they have no interest, merely to belittle the faith of others.
  • A theory is an idea that can be backed up and tested with facts. Creationism is NOT theory. Creationism is basically saying "I haven't got a clue how we got here, so I'm going to say that...erm... god made us" It's just as logical to say that the universe was created in 3 minutes by the invisible purple dragon that lives in an underground cave on the moon. You can't prove it's wrong so it's a valid 'theory' and they should teach that in schools too-you know, so that children can see all sides of the argument.
