  • The problem is the "vertical amplifier" circuit in the television. Have you tried lightly tapping/slapping the TV when it starts doing this? It might be just a poor connection somewhere. I'm sure it's repairable, but the problem is that the technician that works on it has to see it happen, and if it doesn't happen often, they will likely come back to you and say, "sorry, it worked fine for us, but we have to charge you $50 for looking at it." You might consider just getting a new TV if this is a major nuisance. Good TVs are pretty cheap these days.
