  • Honestly I don't know. Further I really don't care, he has his program of recovery, I have my own. I will share with you generalities about those of us who do get clean and sober and keep it for a while. We do not EVER get control of the addiction. We do learn how to recognize the behaviors that lead to our using/drinking. We do learn how to call others in program who are "safe" for us to be around when we feel we are going to go out and use/drink. We DO learn to accept the things we can not change with serenity. We DO learn the courage to change those things we can change - and we DO gain the wisdom to understand the difference. The things we can change is those things inside of us (our own emotions) we can change how we act/react as well however for many of us recovering from addiction it is hard to recognize which of those behaviors/actions/reactions are ones we should change. The things outside of us the things we can not change are those things that other people feel, that other people do, that other people say, that other people think. We can not change which way the winds blow, but we can trim our sails to go in the direction we want from any wind that blows. Again I do not know if Robert has gotten "control" over his addiction. From what I know I have to say 'no' - He may have gotten a program of recovery and has/is learning how to not act on those addictions.
