Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs must be met. At the bottom are the bare physical necessities. After that are safety needs. After that comes love and belonging. It is nice to say that "I can live on love alone!" but that is just plain not so. If a person is fighting for survival s/he does not have time to worry about love.

If you're referring to a romantic relationship then, no. You need more than love to make "it" work. Respect, honesty and common interests are important, but you also need your own space to do your own thing occasionally. Love is alot of work sometimes.

Sometimes just love isn't enough. You can love someone very much and not have the same goals or life long dreams.. and that would make it hard to stay together.
