I'd say some are, some are not...

You drive around in a cart, then get up every so often to hit a ball, then get back in the cart. So I'd say golfers are hardly athletes.

Have you ever walk 18 holes?

A lot of professionals play 36 holes in a day, that is not easy. The younger guys are now doing weight training and running for fitness. Yes I would call them athletes.

G'day badkid, Thank you for your question. They play a sport so yes. Many golfers are in very good condition especially the pros who occasionally play 36 holes in a day and put in hours of training. Regards

An 8-year old can hit a hole-in-one. I doubt if an 8-year old could dunk on a 7 foot center from Yugoslavia! Golf is a game, ladies and gentlemen, NOT a sport.

Even though I think golf is incredibly boring (sorry) I do think golfers are athletes. It takes stamina and training to do what they do, and I respect them for it. I couldn't do it myself, that's for sure!
