It's a poem if you say it is, frankly. In fact, I think that some of the best poems do sound like normal speech. Just because one is writing a poem doesn't mean one has to use strange words or invert their sentence structure. I think that takes away from the beauty of the work. Look at Robert Browning's stuff -- he wrote the way he spoke, even though there were rhymes. A poem CAN have a meter, or rhythm, and that certainly makes it easier to distinguish. However, they don't have to. In my English class, my definition of poetry is "saying as much as possible with the fewest words necessary." Everything else is just a matter of style.
