  • I do like true crime stories, but only if they are far removed from the time of crime. I don't like them if they are about recent crimes. It seems exploitative that way. But once all the hullabaloo dies down, I think a frank look at it is ok.
  • I love them, but like idne I prefer to read about crimes in history and not from the current time.
  • I love reading true crime stories, and I also think they're a generally better when they aren't a recent case. I think that it probably takes a number of years(after all of the investigation, court processes etc.) for all of the facts to come out, so when an author pens a true crime story quickly after the case (trying to ride the buzz of the case I suspect) there generally isnt as much depth. I also enjoy the updates that tend to come with a story written years later (what the criminal/victim/victims family has done since the event, and also things like when the authorities have linked totally different unsolved cases to the criminal etc.).
  • I used to read them all the time, then I got spooked by the real thing...I never do feel that non-fiction is ever as accurate as the real thing..We had a guy stuff his dead wife in the trunk of his car and drive her down to the Holiday inn . That really spooked me, the guy lived 2 blocks away, I knew them both, ugh.
