Are there, or have there ever been, any societies where it was acceptable for a woman to have more than one husband simultaneously?

there most certainly were times in herstory when women were encouraged to take on more than one husband (and frankly, she is much more adept at satisfying multiple husbands than polygamists in this day and age...biologically speaking--no contest!) During and after the ___________________________Irish potato famine women were encouraged to have more than one husband, probably because the population had diminshed and procreation was needed. And we may have to bring out the polygamamas again with this endless war!
