  • The Boston Red Sox did quite well.
  • Probably Texas. It won't show for a while, but they picked up some very good prospects who will serve them well long-term. Short-term they will suck even more than they did now they are without Teixeira and Gagne (and to a lesser extent Lofton), but since they sucked even with them then so what?!? The Redsox also made a good trade for Eric Gagne I think, although short-term I think Papelbon is going to stay as closer and they could probably have gotten by just fine without Gagne... but in the future it gives them the option to transfer Papelbon to the starting rotation, which I think they would still like to do, and they will have one of the generation's finest closers (when healthy) to fill his shoes if and when they do that. edit - just wanted to add, worst trade would be Minnesota trading Luis Castillo to the Mets. One of the best defensive 2B in the league, traded for nothing immediately useful in return when they are supposed to be gunning for the AL wildcard and postseason honours... this trade just sends out all the wrong messages to the other players at the club, who are busting a gut still to be successful this year and must feel like the management has given up on the season a little already. Johan Santana has already voiced his concern at the trade, this could be the nudge that sends him searching for pastures new when his contract expires, and as such could turn out to be an even worse trade by the Twins than it already looks.
