First, I have to know the person (not personally). I prefer regular baggers. I want them to provide good information, and they should be a good, polite person (at least sometimes).
-
My criterion is people whose questions and answers I always enjoy, because they are consistently informative, thoughtful or tickle my funny bone.
-
Hey, everyone's invited!
-
It would be someone I had chatted with, and enjoyed. It could be someone whos answers/questions I respect, or someone I just get along with. I don't have any strict criteria. I like friends.
-
I don't really have any. If you ask me first I am pretty likely to accept it. I only seem to go into my friends Q&A if the site is slow, and I want some decent questions.
-
They have to be someone I've dealt with in a positve way. Someone who makes me laugh.

You invite people to be your friends. How aloof can one person be. Excuse me for not asking permission to give this answer. Mr Bill

1. Good questions and answers. 2. Does not cuss or swear too much. I already hear lots of those in real life. 3. Being active. It would be hard to know an ABer better if they are not active here.

my feelings toward them :)

I always look at the pluses given rating first. I like to see a rating that is near 100%. I also like to have people who are here every day as friends. Some part timers are hardly ever here. I also like people who have a great sense of humor and they don't mind getting kidded with from time to time.

They have to have a very red avitar or 'red' in their name. Few exceptions.

I''m presuming you mean friends on AB. I don't ask people to be my friends. If people ask to be friends I accept. I still have no idea what friends on AB does/means beyond a possible warm fuzzy feeling
