  • Have you checked the fan belt is tight after change?
  • TIMING BELTS ARE TRICKY, YOU MUST CHECK THE TIMING AFTER THE TENSIONER IS INSTALLED BY TURNING THE ENGINE WITH A SOCKET ONE FULL REVOLUTION AT LEAST TO MAKE SURE TIMING IS OK. SOUNDS LIKE YOUR TIMING IS TOO ADVANCED? DOES IT KNOCK AND PING WHEN YOU PUT A LOAD ON IT? ALSO THAT COULD BE CAUSING YOUR WATER TO OVERHEAT. HOPE THIS HELPS, AND YOU MAY HAVE ALSO A BAD THERMOSTAT!
  • yes double ckeck cam timing, but if you think it has good power til it gets warm. that will also cause it to loose power and could be multiple things thermo, water pump cloged rad. or possible head gasket jerry jm1062@comcast.net
  • escort 1.9's are generally slow to begin with seeing as they only have 88horsepower. what shape is your cooling system in, ie. rad, thermostat , heater core?
