Occam's Razor refers to a situation where you have a problem, and two solutions, one simple, and one complex. The Razor part refers to cutting away the more complex answer in favor of the simpler one.

The "razor" to me, describes the "simplist explanation tends to be the right one" in that a razor is basically a single line - no complexity, just a straight edge. At least that's how my brain sees it.
