Yes. Many people in developed nations do. A friend of mine studying forensic science told me that "Human beings take between 3 and 5 times as long to decompose, compared to how long it took 50 years ago." and that this was almost entirely thanks to the enormous amount of preservatives we consume. The kicker is ... most of these preservatives are completely unneccessary.

Most people in developed countries do. I have heard anecdotal evidence that morticians love it, because it makes their job easier.
