  • No, it's condescension.
  • I think you'd have to listen to the rest to know. The person could genuinely be sorry that you feel a certain way about something, but isn't sorry for their own actions say...which I think is fair enough. Or, they could be taking the responsibility for a situation and putting it all on you, rather than taking some themselves. Context is important, in my opinion.
  • No it putting the blame on you. example 1) I am sorry you misunderstood (your fault) 2 ) I am sorry I did not make myself clear. (my fault)
  • Depending. For example If you say "I'm sorry you idiot!" Perhaps you really are appologizing for something you did, however you're also creating another thing you have to appologize for.
  • I hate when people say that...Now-a-days sorry is just an excuse...if the was truly sorry they would of never did what they did.....My little nephew thinks "i'm sorry" is a way for him to do something bad, like its ok because he said I'm sorry. Its the same with adults!
  • No it is not. It's a cop out. "I'm sorry you got hurt" takes no responsibility for causing the hurt.
  • It depends on the circumstances. Maybe they aren't to blame. Maybe they are just commiserating with you, they are sorry you're hurt, they have fellow feeling for your pains or that something so bad happened to you. They could say "I'm sorry you misunderstood me. This is what I meant_________" I never take it that it's my fault. My friends don't treat or talk to me that way so I never hear it in that light.
  • It depends, "I'm sorry you didn't come to my party" or "I'm sorry you're so dumb you forgot about my party". It could be replaced with "It's too bad".
  • No. "I'm sorry YOU felt bad about..." That just makes me angry. Why try to apologise if you don't mean it? Grrrr.
  • I need to know the rest of the "apology" before I decide. ;)
  • If the next word is 'bastard', then no
  • NO way.....not even close..my parents have always done this to me and it is just placing the blame on you!!
  • If I like the person or not if mistaken or not I never allow anyone to apologize, I always say "No need for that let us just forget it". I have found this attitude to be very helpful.
  • That can just as easily be the start and finish of an apology as anything else.
  • well if it's "i'm sorry you got hurt in the process, i didn't mean to" then yea it's really an apology but if it's along the lines of "i'm sorry you don't get it," or "i'm sorry you didn't do..." then no - but it might lead to one. depends on the topic probably
