There are so many ways, I hardly know where to start. I make needlepoint on plastic canvas to surround mine. The easiest way is to simply paint them. I have seen some with a solid color base, and colored dots, squares, etc painted on them. I have also seen them with felt shapes glued on. You could try taping different colors of plastic tape, or colored duct tape, and stickers are always popular. I liked the idea of gluing fake leaves on them to compliment the plants inside.
