  • There is no pain-free way short of going to a doctor and letting them either numb the area or knock you out to remove the thing. I usually drink a few whiskeys and then cut as deep as I can take, and then grab it with the needle-nosed pliers to be sure I get it out all in one try. Ingrown toenails can be brutally painful, I sympathize with you, and I have a high pain tolerance.
  • Not pain-free totally, but Anbesol will numb it a bit, first.
  • Unfortunately, there is no real pain free way of treating an ingrown nail. The best way is to see a podiatrist who will take good care of you. The worst part is the injection, but as soon as the toe is numbed up - your home free. If your ingrown nails are chronic as in you get it them all the time, you should ask your doctor to do a permanent procedure so the side of the nail won't grow back. That way you won't have to get all anxious when you're ingrown nail comes back.
  • A nice big hammer can work. It will start your whole nail over again. :D Its just the initial pain that you have to get over. Once its done it get very numb quickly as is throbs.
