  • Archaic and barbaric. It has been proven that the DP has no affect upon deterring violent crime. We need to institutionalize these types of people and make them case studies for criminology college students so we can learn how to better deal with such psychopathic minds as well as on the flip side, the regular person who commits the crime of passion. Will this world ever be a sentient global society or a Simean cesspool of Post-Neolithic violence.
  • Justice
  • Justice when peformed upon a person that will not change. A life sentece means they take the your life, soul/essence away and turn you into a shell but if someone will never lose that essence, retain their insanity then what can we do other then save countless pounds/dollars on keeping someone alive when they are nothing but evil?
  • After all appeals are exhuasted, why leave a convicted murderer around to be a burden on society? I beleive the death penalty also gives victim's families some peace of mind. Definetly justice.
  • As murder is defined as "the unlawful killing of another human", the death penalty cannot be murder. It is lawful (or isn't practiced). Sometimes, I think it is justice, but only if it is metted out fairly to those who are guilty of extreme atrocities. Since we have no foolproof ability to determine guilt, and it is metted out unequally (on socioeconomic factors) I do not believe it is justice.
  • the DP is a waste of time, It does not punish someone. It's a quick and nearly painless death. How is that punishment? If you told me right now that I could go and kill 500 people and be given a pain killer, then given lethal injection, I would laugh.
  • It'd be justice before murder, but I don't think justice is the right word. Vengeance is better, because that's exactly what it is. It doesn't matter to us if the death penalty deters crime or not, we're still gonna kill that guy because he's earned it.
  • It is not murder. Murder is defined by the same people who administer the death penalty. In other words, murder is a legal term. There are many ways that a person can kill a person and not be guilty of murder. Whether or not it is justice depends on your opinion of what constitutes justice.
  • Why would we kill people to send the message that killing people is wrong?
  • Justice
  • It is PLAIN MURDER and legal murder. Two wrongs to not make a right, and revenge is never the answer. The death penalty is against the law in 13 states and hopefully the rest of the country follows suit as well as the federal government.
  • If it was death by vivisection and they harvested all the possible organs and tissues to sustain another life or lives then it would be valid if that person was found guilty! This is the only possible way they could repay for taking another life!
  • justice.
  • an eye for a eye and an ear for an ear just leaves the world with a bunch of blind deaf people : / In some cases it makes scence. but why kill then when you can make them live their lifes in prison being haunted about what they did.
  • It should be used in the most severe cases such as murder and if it's going to be done it should be done sooner than later. Once a persons appeals are gone there is no need to have a person sit in prison for twenty years before he or she is exacuted.
  • I believe that used cautiously there are some crimes that warrant the death penalty.
