Not always, many high risk jobs attract psychopaths, and they are good at it because they can make decisions based on logic and reason, such as a surgeon. In everyday circumstances it can come off rude, and people with avoiding attachments, often come across cold and self centred, but this is a shield of protection created in childhood, to not get hurt.

Creamcrackered Yes, it's emotional abuse, even if it's done in unawares, take a look at attachment theory, if a parent does not allow emotion, the child disconnects, this can lead to an avoidant attachment, if given unstable parenting it can lead to anxious or fearful avoidant.
