  • I believe it is complicated. I don't believe any broad topic should be as-a-rule off-limits to joke around about. However, there are jokes that take things too far. You cannot threaten a person in a way that they would reasonably believe to be serious, and then just walk away and say "it was just a joke." This was recently proven in court when a youtuber threatened a man in a public place in a way that led the man to believe he was in serious danger. The man pulled out a weapon and injured the prankster, and the court found the man to be not guilty by reason of self-defence. So, there is a line, but I wouldn't say that it's clearly defined.
