I have found the plastic ones to be vary aggressive when some one starts tossing them at you. As for real ones I would say they are scared. If you have watched the animal shows the video is always of the whole flock flying away.

I like the answer about the plastic ones _ it was funny ! But as with all wild animals, they are probably aggressive when it would be protecting their young or their hard found food .

Actually, adult flamingos are very fearful of humans; whether they grew up in captivity or the wild. However, baby flamingos (which start off grey) are very affectionate and not easily scared. When I worked at Busch Gardens I got to feed a baby flamingo and it fell asleep in my arms. But when we went into the adult's area they all paniced- you can actually give them a heart attack if you get too close.
