  • No, but I do remember years and years ago when most households had one phone in a central location in the dwelling. Even when my kids were teens, there were no phones in bedrooms. Perhaps you're thinking of an affluent side of town.

  • I remember years ago when parents on TV gave their children a telephone in their bedroom...and everyone's actual parents ridiculed the idea.

  • Certainly didn't happen in our house and if it did it would have been a payphone.

  • My parents wouldn't of let us have a phone, we had a lock on the phone in the hallway. Use to try and tap out the numbers, but they'd still come up on the bill, so still had to pay for them.

  • When I was a teen, my parents bought me a phone for my bedroom. It only accepted incoming calls, though - there were no numbers on it. Years later, I got a hip neon light phone with a real neon light in it. It was the most 90's thing I've probably ever owned.
