  • War is caused by many different things, such as competition over land, religious conflicts and nationalism.
  • Power, profit, landmass.
  • I like to think that no one wants war. People want what they want and don't care if a war gets in the way. Case in point is Putin saying that the war in Ukraine would end if Ukraine simply unconditionally surrenders to him. However, in the USA in the early 2000's, some very bad people blew themselves up in order to start a war, and our government was happy to oblige, despite the nations we invaded having nothing to do with any of it. So, yeah, I guess people are just either selfish and want other people's stuff and don't care if it results in a war, or else people are just bullies and want a war. The question is who actually wants peace and what can those people do to achieve it? If you insist firmly enough on peace, other people will go to war with you over it, so it's an unwinnable position.

Why would someone go to war over someone else’s peace? That makes no sense to me

Many people are highly invested in war, either financially or spiritually...
  • All good answers so far. All I can add to this is that it takes two sides to have a war.
  • The Great American corporate loves wars they have been creating wars for the last 60+ years. Their children don't fight the wars they make huge profits from wars. The rich elletes that think they own the world create wars to keep control of the world. They currently want to reduce the total popultion on the planet there will be more wars. When your children and family aren't the ones dying they don't affect you.
