  • They should cause millions of people here can't afford to get sick or injured cause they can't afford the health insurance I am one of them. If the Government made all health insurance public so everyone can afford it, there would be a lot less melpracitce lawsuits. Right now only the very wealthy can afford health insurance.
  • From what i know it seems to be the waiting times are alot shorter, oh and you get a couple of buttons on your bed and nurses wearing silly hats :)
  • It works. People cannot be turned away, theoretically, although it does happen. Under government-controlled healthcare, that might be even more the case. Have you ever heard of anyone being turned down for unemployment compensation or food stamps? It happens all the time in my world. That's when the faith-based and veterans support groups shine - they help people regardless of whether or not they have a particular piece of paper to show. Sure veterans are usually expected to produce a DD-214, but that's easily retrieved from the national records. I, personally, received a quintuple cardiac bypass at a faith-based hospital without charge. Sure, I owe the cast and crew a bunch of bucks, but I got the operation and can now focus on paying those bills with my extended life. And the hospital staff offered to help me get welfare after my hospital discharge, which I declined because I'd rather work than be on the dole. I favor healthcare in the US as it currently stands, except for the lawsuits which are driving practitioners out of business or limiting their activities - they should stop or be capped. Botched cosmetic surgery might be an exception, or fraudulent treatments where there was ill-intent from the outset.
  • Absolutely! particularly if you are the CEO of a health maintenance organization, or drug manufacturing company. If you're a blue collar U.S. citizen you can feel great about the fact that you are lining the pockets of health care lobbyists who work so hard at keeping this wonderful system in place. Think how much money you can save when your teeth rot out and all you can eat is soup!
  • if you are rich the benefits just keep rolling in along with the $$. but if you are poor there are no benefits. you just can't get sick or hurt.
  • Health care costs have skyrocketed due to government involvement and corporatism. Just have a look at the ERISA (in the USA) laws which give corporations huge tax breaks to provide insurance for employees all while leaving other individuals in the dust. The answer to lower health care costs is not to pile on more government bureaucracy.
