I lived in both and much preferred LA ,much more liberal and opened minded than San Diego.

San Diego. Plenty of good beaches, tons of nice golf courses and generallly more friendly town. Catching baseball games is a cinch with the rail. If you still want the crazy LA nightlife, it's only a drive up I-5.

Hmm. I've lived in SD, visited LA often. I'll have to say San Diego to live, but there's more cultural stuff in LA.

I've lived in both, and I like San Diego much better. One of the best things about it is when you need something, you can simply drive up to Los Angles, and then....leave. My true paradise home, though, was Santa Barbara, where I lived for 15 of the best years of my life.

Los Angeles -- a little more liberal and vibrant, although San Diego has many good points also.
