Why don't more people give the thumbs up, when they answer questions?

I've wondered this too. I do because it seems polite and it's how I show appreciation for people taking the time to answer my question. Sometimes if I'm on my phone the thumbs up button doesn't work. Or maybe it is just considered annoying because then they get two emails? Idk.
