  • Great question. I'm not sure I know the answer. There were so many great one hit wonders in the early 1980's and again in the mid 1990's. I've seen many of them live and usually ended up thoroughly disappointed in their performances. Remember Finch? Probably not. I saw them in concert. They were truly awful. Remember Macy Gray? Maybe you do, but I'd guess not - she was also quite horrible live. Other bands might technically qualify as one-hit wonders, but were phenomenal, like Frank Zappa or Fountains of Wayne. For my answer, though, I'll go with The Darkness. I'm not aware of any other song by them that received any attention, and their performance on that one song was so over-the-top and unforgettable, that they probably best match the description of "one hit wonder" and also made a kickass song.
