Should I message him?

I want to message this guy back on Facebook but where we left it off idk how. I messaged him first on Facebook and said hi and then he said the same thing. I then said how's it going and he answered and said how have you been. I then answer great. That's the last time we talked. I know it was short but I want to message him back and not sure how. This was all yesterday evening. I wanted to message him but had to put my nephew to bed and kinda fell asleep too. What should I do?
