I just click "mark all as read" and it goes away.

You can be anal (like me) and search until you find comments that are inexplicably buried on page 8 or 12 of your list, read them, and then be frustrated that the Comments light is *still* lit, and hit "Mark all as read". Or, you can just give up if you see nothing on page one and hit "Mark all as read", and try not to wonder if you missed anything important.
