No, but I've given serious and recurring thought to barfing on a canvas, and seeing if I could sell it for $100,000.

Depends what you mean by appreciate and also on what you mean by abstract. Abstract art includes lots of indiginous art, patterns, some 20th century mainstream art. Some old cave drawings verge on abstract. This is abstract as well: http://www.tribal-explorer.com/site_images/images00/tribalx0-0363.jpg If by "appreciate" you mean, "see worth in" then, yes, I do.

sure

Yeah, but some of it may be too abstract for my taste.

No, its a huge pile of pants... It requires no major skill just putting a triangle at a funny angle and splashing it with paint...

Yes, it often very beautiful, and also leaves more to the imagination.

This question reminds me of a movie I just watched called "Who the F#&k is Jackson Pollack" about a woman who bought an abstract painting for $5 at a flea market who now believes it to be an original Pollack. She is unwilling to sell it for less than $50 million!! Anyway - to your question - yes, I would love to go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC and look at the Pollack exhibit there. One of the paintings there is valued at over 100 million dollars! Not bad for flinging paint around in the studio

Not only do I appreciate ALL art, regardless of technique, but I myself paint in abstract. Actually what I paint, in that crazy art world of mine, can be called 'Recognizable Abstracts.' That means the view 'can tell,' say, that 'one' is a mountain scape or that other one is a 'seascape.' HERE, you judge for yourself: This one is titled, 'ROSE'© [by me.]

i love it! ;) it's mostly what i do, i think it conveys emotion far better than any other type of painting. i used to think it was an extremely simple form of art, just fling paint around or paint different colored shapes. i once tried to do a jackson pollack style painting, i don't know, maybe the canvas was just too small (his were huuuge, i was working on just 12X18) but it just didn't look right. so, i turned lemons into lemonade and added some other elements and that happens to be one of my favorite works ;)

Of course. Any art that merits the expression is worth being taken seriously. I like a lot of abstract art, and it doesn't matter where it comes from. for me abstract art is like music for the eyes. It makes it possible to see without a direct purpose, just for pleasure.

The two of us are in a sexual relationship. I wear the pants.
