I was getting ready on Saturday morning, and had had the TV on in the background. It was a show about football and the presenter was on the phone to an ex-player, who was obviously advanced in years. First of all the presenter talked to his wife, and as he said goodbye he said "well we are all glad he is still with us" and then after talking to the man himself he agaion said "glad to see you are still here with us", which I thought was kind of reminding him of his limited time left here.

This question would be an easy one to come up with a really funny answer, BUT age is the worst trick life plays on us..so I think that is insult enough all on it's own. I was raised on 'Respect your elders' , I realize that all too often, even after some people live for 70 years they 'still don't get it' and 'they probably never will'...but on the other hand, I have known several people in their late 80's and early 90's that are so very wise. Their body maybe playing tricks on them..but their mind is still as sharp..sharper than ever. I will applaud them..not insult them. I might make jokes about my own ageing as it comes, as they do, and that's OK, they recognize they are not what they once were, but that is not an excuse to rub it in their faces..we are all going to be them one day.(if we live)MY dad always says, "I don't mind getting old, it sure beats the alternative...being dead"
