  • I think the umpire has to determine if the batter pulled back into the catchers box and interfered with the throw to second or the catcher reached into the batters box and interfered with the batter. It would be a hard call without seeing the play.
  • This is Catcher inteference and put the batter on first. Since the ball hadn't arrived at the plate yet, the umpire cannot say that the batter would not have changed his mind and tried to bunt the ball.
