    I had great difficulty finding information on this on the web, and some I did find was conflicting as to whether or not it was completed before he died. The best clue I could find was http://www.mmv.ru/english/analysis/30-08-1999_symp.html which interestingly reports a recent (at the time) performance of it and at the bottom has a footnote reporting his death. So it appears likely he may have completed it not long before he died. If I find any more information I will certainly post it, but if someone has more than I do it would be most helprful.
