  • Had the same problem. Return it to the shop for repair. Here is what I did. Found that if you removed the Hard Drive and then (by pressing the front 1/0 button)started the PS3 without the harddrive it would do the same thing the first time, if you retsrated a 2nd time it would boot up and say "Hard Drive not recognised" or similar. Shut the PS# down normally. Put the HDD back in and restart. The PS3 starts (may take a few goes). I work in IT so suspected a stuffed HDD. Formatted the HDD and retored PS3 System. Got the PS3 to the point where it would start every third attempt - good enough to keep it going for the weekend. Played games okay and no problems whilst powered up. Removing/replacing the HDD doesn't appear to void warrenty here in Aust as Sony even ship instructions on how to do it correctly. Anyway have returned the PS3 to the shop for repair as this appears to be a HDD or motherboard problem. For reference specs for my PS3 are: Version: Australian Firmware: 1.90 Video: HDMI conected to Pioneer PDP507xda Plasma Audio out: via Optical Internet: Wired into local LAN @ 100Mbs
