Its a good point. The counter argument is that peoples organs are their own and consent should be saught, and it could be seen as a violation of that to assume opt in without their consent. However I am for the proposal.

I don't see a problem with it, either. EXCEPT, family should be able to say no, after their death, if they did not opt out.
-
Because there is legal matters involved and family members may be against it.Many may forget to option out of being an organ donor, and end up being one.

I totally support the new proposed law, so many people just 'forget' to register their wishes to be an organ donor, if they desperatly don't want to be a donor then they will get off their arse and say no wont they. Every Child has to go to school inless they expressly opt out and set up home schooling.... that's not considered a violation is it? And it has much more of an impact on your life than what happens to your organs after you've passed.

I think its a great idea it would help so many people and stop people dying through waiting for a organ,at least this way they would have a better chance of survival.

I think it's a good idea. As long as family have the right to opt out after a person's death too. After a long time of not getting round to it, i have finally put my name on the register. If organ donation was automatically opt in, there would be far more organs available for people needing them.

I think this is a great (and needed) idea. So many people die because they do not get an organ in time and it's such a waste that some many people die without donating their viable organs. Since many people do not make it known that they wish to be an donor or do not know enough about it to do this it would mean more available organs and many more lives would be saved. Of course the family could still "opt out" (though hopefully they wouldn't because although it's a difficult thing to do it is the ultimate gift - to save at least one other person's life).

no, no, and no! we are not a deck of cards to be dealt out after our passing... what ever happened to respecting the dead? the very idea of someone carving me up (harvesting my organs) after i'm dead is offensive to me, in the extreme. and i would never allow it of someone i love. i can not even bear the very idea...
-
Because they will be letting the poor and middle class die to harvest parts for the rich. Money does talk. Medicine in this day and time belongs to the ones with the most money to offer.
