Nothing happened to these, they are alive and well and just as much a part of society as they were during the hippy movement. I think it has more to do with the terminology of it rather than it's disregard. While the phrase may have all but died out, the general concept lives on strongly.

The first factor is present but not presented in an interesting and fun way, it's too manufactured and not really "sexy" enough. Drugs I can do without. The Rock N Roll part is what I miss the most.

rock and roll retired to the Shetland Islands, Drugs is in rehab in Malibu and sex is in line for a sitcom on NBC.
