  • Japanese, Prius, fun to drive. Great milage (22km/l)
  • American cars-- 2 Ford Focus' 2003 & 2006, drives good, no mechanical problems, knock on wood, gas ???, just refill when needed
  • We own a Hyundai Tiburon. I absolutely LOVE it. Great gas mileage, can fit surprisingly a lot (the back seats fold down to make larger trunk space) and it's also sleek and attractive.
  • Currently German (VW Golf)... though check back next week ;) So far it's pretty good considering it's 14 years old and over 220K, all of that in New England. Mechanically it's fine, but the rust... well, we have 2004s that are rusting out so mine is pretty good there too.
  • Actually, when I think about it, I have all 3. 2000 Chrysler Intrepid - American 2006 Honda Civic - Japanese 2006 Smart Fortwo - Euro I just drove the intrepid a total of 8hrs through the mountains and it's fantastic on the highway. It's at home on the straight open roads where you can kiss 150 without any trouble. In the city, hard to park, bad on gas, etc. But, find a highway and you'll be smiling :) Civic is good for a city and highway vehicle but the gearing doesn't allow for much speed on the highways without spooling it up. Still, since I have the stick it's easy to manage the engine's power and extract as much as possible when needed. Good on fuel, etc. Recommended for an all-rounder. Smart is a vehicle I hate. Looks bad from most angles, expensive maintenance that can only be done at the dealer, easy to break, stupid warranty, everything costs at least $100, gauge cluster always angers me, radio is horrible, visors are small, cheap, and don't swivel, seats are uncomfortable, the steering wheel isn't adjustable, the glass roof has only one small cheap slider to block the sun, the wipers always skip, the door sound tinny, there is no central window switch so you need to lean over to close the passenger window, you need to fill the tank in a special way to avoid spillover, there is no power for passing or accelerating, the transmission is slow and problem-prone, the steering wheel is small, the interior scratches easily, and the only user-serviceable things are the washer fluid and checking the oil. That's all I have off the top of my head but there's more. Oh yeah...did I mention I hate it? And that it cost more than the civic? Not recommended...
  • Ford Fiesta Zetec - 2 years old and brilliant.
