  • it is an awful thing to have happened and i hope they find the little girl safe and well. but i cant help wandering why 2 parents would leave their children alone while they were on holiday. i wouldnt feel comfortable leaving my children (if i had any) alone at home never mind on holiday
  • Yes certainly, some of the responsibility lies with the parents. They took a great risk leaving the child alone, even though it was only for a brief time and they were nearby. Many children have died in fires under such circumstances. If the parents would have stayed with the child, she would not be missing now.
  • Yes,ive said from the beginning that they should never have left their children alone while they went for dinner. The whole point (to me) of going on holiday is to be a family together, not to dump the kids in bed and go and have a good time. The very fact that the father is a heart surgeon and the mother is a GP in my eyes makes it worse, they should be more responsible. If Joe Bloggs off the street goes out and leaves his young children alone in a flat in a strange country he will be charged with neglect, yet everyone feels sorry for the McCanns. Yes i hope Madeleine is found safe (im doubting it now) but really i think these parents have been very irresponsible in the first place.
  • i don't think it's helpful to blame people. What they did was a big mistake and they will, i'm sure find it hard to forgive themselves for it. Does it help the situation if we blame them? I try to live by the saying 'judge not lest ye be judged'.
