  • "Once" is a well-made movie, an Indie, I believe. It's about an Irish musician who puts together a band with the lyric-writing help of a talented waif from central Europe. The music is good. The acting is good - understated. The main guy in it is one of the guys in "The Commitments."
  • What's wrong with brainless non-stop action movies designed for young people who are addicted to video games?
  • Well...The Fountain is good but it came out on DVD recently so it's not something you'll see in theaters. But personally the movies you've dissed aren't that bad. Ratatouille isn't a non-stop action movie designed for young people that are addicted to video games either. True it's Pixar's films so it's still potentially aimed at young audiences but it could still fit what you are looking at in terms of wanting a story that has a lesson of sorts in the end.
  • My parents went to see "Evening" they both said it was really good (they are a little older then you). My husband and I liked "Knocked Up" and I want to see "Evan Almighty".
  • If you want to avoid brainless movies, stop watching mainstream Hollywood films altogether. Stick with foreign or indies or classics. Check out the AFI top 100 movies list and start watching.
