  • Yes they do work and are worth the money but they arent worth skin cancer. Tanning beds arent safe and are actually worse then then the sun itself. Not great idea, buy some self tanner.
  • They are not safe. They are just as bad as sitting out in the sun. Tanning increases your risk of getting skin cancer. http://www.skincancer.org/
  • No, they aren't safe at all. Yes, they work, if your goal is to look like a leather handbag when you're 30 or to increase your risk of skin cancer. Sure, they are worth the money, again, if you're going for the leather handbag look and think skin cancer is a good thing.
  • Safe in what way? They are just as bad (if not worse) than the sun for increasing skin cancer risk, but they won't cook you from the inside if you stay in 5 extra minutes. Millions of people use them responsibly and they can give you a nice looking tan if that is what you are after. Try to keep the use down though- many people get addicted to tanning and overuse them to the point where they are no longer safe. Are they worth the money? I wouldn't BUY one, but if you can get a monthly membership for around $30-40, you want a tan, and you don't have the time to lay in the sun then they are worth it.
  • My friend bought one, and she uses it frequently, which everybody can tell because she looks like a lizard. After a bunch of facelifts and no telling what else, she's well-preserved but she has a complexion like a saddle, but not nearly so smooth. The "safe" issue is up for grabs, because of recent discoveries about varies wavelengths of UV light and how the body responds to it, so all the "safe" label really means is that it won't electrocute you or trap you inside like what happened in the "Final Destination" episode. Whatever is going on with your skin is another story, and not fully understood, even yet. A recent article was subtitled: Skin-cancer stats fall on young deaf ears, but wrinkles, now those are scary. It's about over-tanning, and warns not to do it, and tells how young people pay no attention to the warnings, hence the climb in skin cancers. On the other hand, the Vitamin D boost is beneficial, no doubt, but it comes with a risk. In moderate climates, 5-10 minutes every day is sufficient to provide adequate Vitamin D, so that's not a reason to use a tanning bed.
  • Not safe! Skin cancer and premature aging will result!
