  • They sure can. People ride them up and down them all of the time. Some steps are even made for that in old towns in Europe in the hillsides. They make the steps wider so the horse gets better footing.
  • I remember riding my horse up AND down the auditorium steps of my elementary school years ago, slippery but doable. And a friend and I lead our horses up into her old farmhouse into the kitchen and then when her mom got home, we were really in trouble and had to get those horses out FAST! her horse just jumped off the porch and down the stairs while mine took the stairs two at a time. They may not be graceful but they can do it after a fashion. I'm sure it's easier for them to jump down.
  • Most, if not all, police horses are trained to walk up and down stairs. (of course, then comes the fun with the gun..shooting blanks so they get used to that too!)
  • Yeah, but animals with cloven hooves do it easier.
  • Yes, though it may have problems with a paternoster.
  • Horses can. I think it's cows that have a problem with stairs.
  • mine does!
  • I think the only mammal that can't walk down is a cow. :D
  • How did you get that horse upstairs in your office in the first place? :)
