  • There is endless appreciation for those willing to take the time to correctly answer questions. Don't let a few rude people get in your way.
  • A strange thing about this site is that the number of points received bears no relationship to the amount of knowledge, effort or research that goes into an answer. Probably because questions that need that sort of response tend to be technical and aren't read by anything like the number of people that read the 'fluff' questions. Console yourself with the thought that your contribution is greater than telling us what's written on either your shirt or on page 18 of the nearest book.
  • I did that for a question Joel asked , and got down rated with for no reason 3 times , Not from him -- and my answer was correct - If this is what you mean , I agree +5
  • The Down ratings do not really matter if you have given the person that asked the question the answer that was needed. I look at it if I have to research a question I have learned something and if I get DR , So What , I have still gained that knowledge. It does not matter how well you answer a question there will always be some people that will DR.
  • Yeah, I hate that. Some of my best answers have absolutely no points, but the ones with the most points are some of my stupidest. Not that I care, but I'd like to at least get some recognition. There was this one answer I made to a question asking about the economy of Germany, so I answered using Geographica's World Reference book, which gives economical, geographical, and historical information for every country in the world. So, I answered with that, and I was sure I'd get some decent points. but I actually got downrated one point by someone who I pissed off earlier.
