  • It isn't, it's a dark brown. Usually it's seen in a mug with light hitting it from only one direction, which darkens it's colour to our senses. Spill some on any porous surface and you get a brown stain.
  • It's not actually. It's just a really dark brown that LOOKS black. Sort of how when I was little, I thought my dad's hair was black, but I was corrected on it being just a dark brown.
  • If you spill coffee on a white surface, you will notice its color to be brown. We see coffee as black when it's all together and you try to look through a lot of it.
  • Coffee beans are originally form green to light brown in color, but after roasting them they turn into dark brown. In arabia they roast the beans till its dark but not as dark as in the eruopean way. They may drink green or light brown there.
