  • Sometimes water gets into the carburetor and the water dilutes the petrol. This will eventually evaporate and the car will start properly.
  • When you wash an engine you need to be sure to not get any electrical systems wet. When you go through a big big puddle and you car stalls? That is all the puddle water coating the electrical system under the hood and stalling the vehicle. When you wash the engine, any water that gets in the coil pack, sensors, battery connections, ground wires, etc can short circuit the system or cause false readings that can shut down the car. It is recommended that you cover all electrical pieces (like the fuse box, etc) before washing an engine to avoid damage. It sounds to me like you may have ruined a sensor which is now giving false readings causing the rough idle. If you let the engine bay dry out (hood up in the sun for about 20mins) this may fix the problem, but that's a maybe. If the problem continues for a week then you definitely have a problem that requires a new part or two. And no, any warranty you may have does not cover owner...unawareness. Hope this helps, Good luck
