Downhill sprint training works. Here is how it works: Moving your workout to a downhill slope will increase speed by an average of two-tenths of a second.

The pull of gravity will force you to run faster than you would be able to prevent falling. It is important to concentrate on good form and drive while running downhill.

Training this way for about 8 weeks will increase your speed as your body adjusts to the fast stride frequency, and the arms and legs can move through space at much greater speeds.

Most people will improve a 40 yard time by two-tenths of a second in 8 weeks and many improve their time by as much as four-tenths of a second after completing an 8 week training this way.

The lone draw-back to this type of training: You will peak very fast employing this type of training. This new level of speed can only be maintained for a short period of time. The average person will be able to maintain this speed for approximately eight weeks.

This type of training can be cycled two to three times per year for optimum results.

they are many ways to increase speed but hard work has to be put into it. the main one i got taught to do was in my physical education classes and this is called interval. training a summury of explaining about interval training is.

short bursts of a large amount of speed at a costant rate so this mean that you maybe sprint 80meters at full speed then take a 1 min break and sprint another 80meters and keep it up costantly.

When you break down sprint speed it comes down to only two factors: stride length, and stride frequency.
In order to increase your stride length you have to increase the force with which you push off the ground=get stronger. But don't just do that, make sure that in doing so you are explosive, pushing off hard and slow will get you know where. You also have to make sure that in in creasing your strength and size that you don't decrease your flexibility. if you are more flexible you will be able to extend farther with each stride. combining that with a stronger push off and you've increased your stride length. there's half of the equation.
The first answer on this thread was good for the second half. You can consciously work on increasing your strike rate, but in doing so the rest of your form will likely suffer, and you may tense up. downhill running however, will force you to speed up your turnover, without thinking about it. it will be natural, and over time will become part of your natural running style.
Stamina of course is also part of the equation. Great conditioning is essential, but it still is not one of the two true factors. it only effects them. you get tired, and you cant push off as hard, or you get tired and you cant turnover as fast. one thing that you need to keep in mind as a sprinter though, is that you are a sprinter, not a middle distance, distance, or marathon runner, and your conditioning needs to be designed accordingly. repeat sprints, or short high intensity runs are much better for your purposes than running mile after mile.

strength training(mostly core, legs, and shoulders)+stretching+downhill running(or quick feet exercises like latter drills)= longer stride and faster turnover= faster sprinting

The other answer is a very good strategy, but also focus on the way you run.. if you run with your fists clenched your body puts energy towards your fist to give them more strength... try running with your hands straight.. sort of like you're doing the robot... it might help so your body can focus on putting the energy towards the running

    1) run faster
    2) have a chetah chase you
    3) eat a lot of spicy foods
    4) hire a personal sprinting coach
    5) watch the gazelle, and emulate it's grace.

I've done this for track and it seems to help a lot. If you live by a steep hill, run up it. simple as that. sprint up the hill and walk back down. It can get boring but it helps tons. i started doing about 20 sets of this running technique a long with 20 minutes of jogging and then 5 minutes of running. Hope this helps! =D

It wouldn't hurt to do plyometrics a couple days a week. Almost any athlete can benefit from this sort of training.

    work you Quad muscles

sprinting is measured by how long your stride is
how quick you ca turn over your stride
and how hard you strike the ground when you run

if u can perfect these things you will be a good sprinter

well i run the hundred meter, and before track started last year my time was over 12 seconds. so what i did was i just rode my bike up, and down the hills around my house. my fastest time last year for the hundred was just under 11 seconds. riding the bike really strengthened my calfs because the form you have riding the bike is the same form you have while sprinting.
    Good lick!
