Are you serious?

Beatles

The Beatles. Historically they will always be the classic.
-
Considering the vast body of diverse works the Beatles have out there, I would have to say the Beatles, hands down. The Velvet Underground doesn't compare.
-
Not familiar with Velvet Underground, but I vote for them cuz the Beatles repulse me!
-
Who are the Velvet Underground? I think the Beatles are great.
-
The Beatles, although I am not a fan of their early work.

1) Between 1966 and 1970, I was very interested from what the Beatles were doing and I followed them in their evolution. I found the old group members did some interesting things later too. 2) In 1970, I discovered the Velvet Underground, and I found it very good. At that time, I was loosing interest for the Beatles and started having interest for other groups. 3) So both of them accompanied me on my way and I would not have missed any of both. But if I really had to make a choice, I would say the Beatles. And I love also the new song of Paul McCartney, 'Dance Tonight'. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xTNXrkBSp_o

this question isn't fair. you can't ask me to pick between tomatoes and strawberries. i love'em both and can't live without either.
-
The earlier work of the Beatles.

That's a tough choice. The Beatles have more good songs simply because they have a large volume of work and operated at a fairly consistant level of quality, but I think the Velvet Underground had more vision and originality in their work. The Beatles had more "Old School" quality, they really knew how to write a classic track, but classic doesn't always equal enjoyable for me, so the Velvet Underground wins out in my book, but just barely.

how is that even a question the beatles are the greatest band ever! im a beatles fanatic!
-
Velvet Underground. I am not a fan of The Beatles.

I love both bands very much. The Beatles have a much larger selection of work though and from Revolver to Let It Be, they were absolutely perfect. Plus their music is easy to listen to. However, I love the Velvet Underground and no other band changed my perspective of how music can operate quite like them. And both the Beatles and Velvet Underground are probably the most influential bands of all time for the Beatles started the British Invasion and influenced so many bands btu the Velvet Underground single handedly created alternative rock and without them punk, goth, new wave, emo, grunge, noise, etc.(maybe even gangster rap) would not exist. So for me, the Velvet Underground is my favorite band of all time followed by the Beatles. It was a very close decision though.
