If Beethoven was born 200 years later, would he still have become a composer, or would some modern-day circumstances have led him down a different path?

It is very hard to say. His father pushed him so far, he was so very abusive to the young Beethoven... child services would of taken him out of course, and his life path would be toattly altered from that. But weither or not that would of stoped the Titan from becoming a musican, I don't know.

I have often wondered that myself. I'd like to think, because of his genius, he still would have become a composer.

Maybe he would have become a composer. But I doubt that many people would have appreciated his work.

He would compose 2 minute pieces of commercial music for large sums of money(ie pop music). The advent of recording finished off classical music for good (excpt film music), but Beethoven was an astute business man, music was his art, and he would embrace the music style of any period of time that he lived in.
